About Silica: Silica is an essential trace mineral that plays a biological role in the processes by which bone, cartilage, connective tissue and skin are formed, and is a component of collagen. Our Silica is not a silica extract, it is a Horsetail Extract that contains silica in very high amounts. Silica is naturally occurring in horsetail, is bound to the natural, organic chemicals in the horsetail plant (bioflavonoids) and remains bound throughout the extraction process. By allowing our Silica supplement to naturally retain its bioflavonoids (which are part of the vitamin C complex) we are providing a more nutritious product without synthetic additives.

Please be aware that our Silica product is quite different from and has nothing to do with inorganic silica. Inorganic silica is basically just powdered rock and very difficult for the body to absorb. There are many inferior Horsetail Extracts on the market today that have been spiked with powdered silica to artificially raise the silica content. This is easily and cheaply done. When inorganic silica is added to organic (i.e. vegetal) silica in this way, the body still cannot absorb it because the human body cannot absorb rocks!
